Hello Utah Chess players!

I am Powell Walker, a professional chess player from the Salt Lake City area. I have been playing chess since I was 8 years and throughout my chess career, I have enjoyed many championships and titles, including the International Youth Chess Championship title in 2016 and several Arizona State championships. I have even had the opportunity to play Magnus Carlsen! I have learned from Grandmaster Alex Yermolinsky, and have had the privileged of learning and working for Chess.com CEO, Dany Rensch.

I have a passion for playing chess and want to share my love for the game with competitors in Utah. Recently, I formed the company, PowerChess, LLC to create learning opportunities for students in Salt Lake City area schools, teach in person and online chess lessons, and to host over the board tournaments.

I am excited to announce the inaugural PowerChess tournament will be on Saturday, September 10th, 2022 in North Salt Lake, UT (Location TBA). Please come join us for this USCF rated event, prizes, and community. To learn more and to register visit: https://power-chess.com/chess-tournaments-1

Thank you,

It's great to have another contributing member. I'm a father of two that I'm teaching chess to, so I'll look over your available content. Good luck with your tournament and I'll be there if at all possible.

Misowalker you should go to Utahchess.com and look at Utah tournaments.  I myself am the former Utah champion of 2019.  Since you're a CM I know you can become state champion as I'm only 2080 rated.  Other than that though they have regular rated tournaments like once every 2 months.
