Speed Metal vs Power Metal

"Speed Metal is generally much more straightforward than Power Metal, which often has it's own rhythm and a much larger focus on more insane melodies. Power Metal often has a lot more chord-layering, especially since the inclusion of keyboards. Where as Speed Metal is far dirtier and generally more riff based. Vocals are a big thing, too. Maiden and Priest both definitely influenced Power Metal vocalists, but they aren't really power metal singers.
Modern speed metal perhaps borrows more from Venom and Slayer, whereas Power Metal takes a lot of it's influence from Iron Maiden and Helloween."
