The Diricrawl; Care of Magical Creatures

Sort:
Limunary

The Diricawl (known to Muggles as the Dodo) was a plump, fluffy-feathered and flightless magical bird, native to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It was capable of disappearing and reappearing elsewhere, except when under the effects of Levioso.A Diricrawl and it's infants

History

While Muggles believed this bird to be extinct, but in reality, it existed and had the ability to disappear and reappear elsewhere as a means of escaping danger, similar to Apparition, while Muggles remained unaware. The International Confederation of Wizards had not seen fit to reveal that the animal still existed, since it seemed to have raised Muggle awareness of the consequences of slaying their fellow creatures indiscriminately.

Information

Feather Colour: Generally blue-pink

Beast Classification: XX

Distinction: Apparition and Flightless

Mortality: Mortal

Native to: Indian Ocean (Mauritius)

Its what Muggles call "Dodo"

I've read that in year 1890-91 school year at Hogwarts, A fifth year student ( Unidentified) retrieved the Diricrawl Gwyneira for Marianne Moffett.

Limunary

thats true.

In the late 19th century, after the increased presence of poachers in the area, Marianne became concerned for Gwyneira, a local legend due to the diricawl being albino and thus, would be heavily prized for her feathers. While she of course would love to use Gwyneira's feathers herself, she knew if poachers got a hold of the diricawl, they'd likely kill the poor creature in the process of taking her feathers. Thus, Marianne tried to think of a way to capture the illusive diricawl to keep her safe. Unfortunately, she was having no luck there, with her only being able to deduce that Gwyneira only came out at night.

Actually this is the Dodo but it looks slightly different, that is because there were two types of it, one the Dircrawl which was smart and could teleport while the other, the Dodo was stupid and got wiped out because it was overly friendly

Dennis_Pobart

Yes, dodos acted foolish sometimes

Dennis_Pobart
