What are some of the best set ups in set up chess?

Note: I do not mean Automate, because that uses a 35 point system, not 39. Also, the Automate computer would make really bad moves so setups that where strong in automate may not be as strong in the current set up version.

From what I've seen, knight-heavy setups are powerful, but I don't understand why they almost always come with no other pieces. It makes sense why queens aren't put into them, but wouldn't some bishops or rooks make it more versatile, which is often needed when the enemy setup can be any number of things? Yes, you see them making it in real-time, but even then it seems like more piece variety would make the position stronger, as you get more attacking, defending, and movement possibilities.

I'm no expert at all but It seems common to see lots of Bishops being placed on the board in set up currently. They have better scope than the N for their point values.

I do 8 bishops (1 on 2nd row, 7 on back row) and 15 pawns (8 3rd row, 7 2nd row), that usually confuses new players who spam queens and eventually get pinned off…

I do think that variations with more minor pieces than pawns and knights and rooks instead of bishops are worth trying though. I haven’t played against many strong standard players so I haven’t tested my strength or setup properly yet.

i do surround the king with bishops

I remember that in Automate Queens cost 7 points and Rooks cost 4 points... maybe it would be nice to bring that back to add an incentive to have queens and rooks.

Depends on if the opponent spammed bishops or thought to use pawns too; it’s extremely losing to put a horde setup in setup chess

The best start/start is to adapt. The top players have similar patterns but are almost always different. Choosing a setup is how you lose. If you like horde but your opponent had no pawns it is and so you adapt and add three bishops

Are there any setup chess GM's here??
