What do You Think About Chess Studies?

Hi friends, how are you?

I would like to know your opinion about chess studies and the benefits of solving them.

Besides it, about the specific studies of giving mate in a few moves, but with the pieces prearranged in strange squares. What do you think about these specific types of studies?

Hello! I'm not a very strong player but here is my opinion. I find puzzles very useful, but only if they are from real games. I find compositions more difficult to solve, so maybe for that reason I enjoy them less.

The endgame studies seem more useful to me.

As far as the mate compositions, I always fail to solve them, mainly because I can't never find the best defence, I'd say they are of less real practical use then the one from real games, but maybe I'm wrong.

I had the same opinion as you about mate compositions. But a 2600 FIDE GM advised my friend to study them as hard as he could.

So, I´m trying to take a new look at it.

I see, a Gm opinion should always be held in high regard. Well if I find some interesting checkmate compositions then I'll post them on this club. See you.
