The Hound of the Baskervilles is my favourite
What is the best Sherlock Holmes book?

This is always difficult, and I would not argue with the two previous at all - but I remember finding His Last Bow moving from the very first page, as the title presaged what was to come. That said, I was then much younger and impressionable. I am resolved to read them all again soon !!

In terms of novels, I heartily concur: The Hound of the Baskervilles is amazing.
As for the short stories, The Adventure of the Dancing Men is my personal favorite. It also has the best introduction of any Sherlock Holmes story.
"How absurdly simple!"

Some other good ones not yet mentioned:
- Dancing Men
- Man with the Twisted Lip
- Engineer's Thumb
- Beryl Coronet
- Reigate Squires
- Gloria Scott
- Naval Treaty

Personally, I love The Vally of Fear. It’s hard to say whether it’s better than The Hound of the Baskervilles though.
I personally like The Speckled Band...
