Those who were not born with 2D online chess.

Not you, clearly...so why are you spamming this thread?

I have one opinion. Why use a digital chessboard? You don‘t need to go online for chess on your fancy digital chessboard when you have electronics that can do it anyways.

The psychological experience of playing chess on a real board and piece set is worth it for some people. Not everyone enjoys staring at a computer screen, especially if the game has a sufficient time control to accommodate using the real board and piece set.

Just to clear it up because I'm confused - what does "complicated syncing to wifi or internet" mean? What board/process are you talking about?

Btw through joerns hard work (chessconnect developer) pretty much any eboard can play online on multiple sites as well as vs on- or offline bots, that's not exclusive to the chessup 2.

Sorry for my vagueness, I just meant the usual technical difficulties I've experienced with other electronic chess boards. As for the board, the reason I said ChessUp2 was the best fit is because I didn't just want to play online, I wanted to specifically enjoy Chess.com on a physical board, and ChessUp2 was the first e-board to integrate the two. Does that answer your questions, or should I elaborate further?

People who are bad online/hate online, and like OTB better. Or, like someone else said, people who don’t play OTB, and want to get into it. I mean, I can’t imagine going into a chess tournament, not knowing anything about how to move the pieces the right way, and only knowing what chess.com shows you.

I got mine and I love it, except the issues with comes along with a new hardware product. To play against another human on a physical board is another experience I aprreciated highly. And I had no problems with playing on the screen. Both is great. I love tech.

I am a boomer and I wonder why especially by younger people always discussions came up, if you need such a product or not. I think chess players should be a little be more intelligent. Products are being made because some customers want it, the producer thinks. This means not every customer and therefore free choose was invented if you buy it or not. It is no need to find a general answer for all people.

what is the password the board is asking for because it isnt the wifis?

What do you mean, password? What does the screen say specifically? What stage of turning on the board does the 'password request' occur?

Some 2D-only players are genuinely curious about the appeal of the tangible 3D board which gets in the way of how they learned to play bullet/blitz/rapid chess. I, too, see the advantage of on-screen gaming, particularly how you cannot knock over pieces especially during the last 5 seconds of the game. Also, the ability to use preset moves saves players precious seconds, something that is not possible for over-the-board play. Basically, online-only players see these e-boards as handicaps in fast and short games, the time controls that most/all younger players play in.

I want to use mine for learning openings and lessons, the main reason I bought it. And I wanted to do it all on a real chess set.

You know, there is something to be said for a book and a board....more than I think you will get from chessup2.

TundraMike

I still use my books, and the interaction of Chess 2 will just add to my over-pleasure and study.

I love mine; the only con thus far is that even though I'm in a room with good connection to the internet, my wi-fi keeps randomly disconnecting mid-game and the game frustratingly assumes I abandoned, and I lose ELO. Does anyone know if I can fix this?

This issue will be fixed soon. The next few firmware releases will fix the WiFi disconnects. It is specific to certain router setups and we have worked with users over the past couple of weeks to figure out which routers we had issues with - acquired those routers - and are fixing it now. Sorry for the lost games

budgieborb

Thank you for working on it, I love the board besides that issue, i'm on it every spare second I can get. It's a really great board! It surpasses all my expectations!

i think the problem was i tried to use hotspot on the phone, worked now on external wifi. now the pieces lost their light tho so seems like faulty board

My issue has been resolved for the most part (as of update 1.6.3). I'm also ecstatic that checkers has been integrated! Wait....CheckersUp2??

Jolanta-R

There were no Checkers before... so this is CheckerUp on Chessup2. Lol
