When I heard Tobey Maguire will be playing Bobby Fischer my first thought was, "What, was Corey Feldman busy?" I know, I should be happy they're making a movie about Bobby Fischer and I am, kinda. But Tobey Maguire??

I don't know about you, but french author Boris Vian is Fischer's twin. He's dead too so he really is unable to play the part... I'm sorry:

He does look a lot like Joe Fischer.

In the movie poster... why do the moves floating around "Fischer's" head have uppercase letters for the pawns, separated by a hyphen:  B-G5 instead of Bg5; N-D4 instead of Nd4.

Would this be considered inaccurate?

Of course, BG; that is Hollywood--accuracy not required.

Why did they give Maguire those exaggerated moles?  Fischer's moles weren't that big.

Well, it's well known that the camera puts 10 pounds on facial moles, so...

Oh, and speaking about accuracy, I read somewhere that they were portraying Regina Fischer as either a stripper or a hooker--I can't remember which, but there you have Hollywood's attention to detail; and as such, I fear for the movie, but I'm going to go see it, anyway.  I'll post a review on the trysts movie thread later.

Well, the move format is in DN, but the moves are in AN; like I said, Hollywood and accuracy are normally at odds with each other.

I believe Tobey Maguire was instrumental in getting the movie made...hence you get Maguire/Fischer.

Jake Gyllenhaal would have been a better Fischer. He looks more like him and he's closer in size to Bobby, being 6ft tall to Maguire's 5ft 8in. Plus Gyllenhaal's a MUCH better actor.    

I hope they depict him as he was, in every raw detail. There is no denying he was a great chess player, but too many Fischer fan boys are willing to forget what a colossal POS he was as a human being. Nobody should idolize him IMO, only his games.

Is it movie come out? On IMDB year of production is 2014, but date of release is 16 september 2015. I hope it's gonna be decent movie, not just propaganda.

Bobby had a fat bottom lip and prominent mouth, Toby has a tiny bottom lip and small mouth. Toby doesn't have a significant amount of nose or sunken eyes. If you cannot even be a convincing Spiderman how can you be Bobby Fischer? I would rather have a large spider lay her eggs in my nose than watch anything with Toby in it.
