Moderators and Your Username . . .

Whenever you submitted a request to change username, did the Mods ever try to get you to choose something else, because, for whatever reason, that individual mod did not like it ? After you explained why you wanted said non offensive new username to apply, they still tried to talk you out of it ? Well, such a thing has happened to me - did the mod who was dealing with your request do something similar ?

Only staff would handle username changes, not mods. If it was determined to be offensive or if the name was in active/recent use by another account, they would not allow the change.

well then it was a member of "staff" then who changed mine. But the point still stands - whatever their technical status, why do they try to talk you out of adopting some non offensive new username you want to use ?

I couldn't say but it could be for not being amendable to the community guidelines, or offensive, or already in use.

Targaryen

they key phrase is "..non offensive new username.." so, how could that not be amenable to the community guide lines ? In my case, I was talked out of using the name '..The-Unworthy..", now that is offensive, and was not in use . . .

Targaryen

ooops, type alert - insert ".. that was not an offensive username.." instead

Targaryen

PS I could also say that it was offensive that I was talked out of using a non offensive username not already in use . . .

You know, I always wondered if @david's name was actually David? It could just be a work related alias, like how phone support people can introduce themselves under any name they choose.

I feel like his real name might be Chadwick or Bruce.

I'm a bit confused. I see that you had changed your username to that. Normally staff would only would initiate a name change at the request of the member or if it was offensive or against site rules.

If you did not initiate the name change request, I don't see any reason it would have been done.
