I think they all look pretty, but I'd simply experiment. I don't use a chess.com profile background in part because the foreground covers up the picture too much. I find myself trying to peek at the background through gaps in the notes and stats; it isn't worth the effort for me, so I just keep the default black backdrop.

Use dark mode and then you can easily see your background
