I like Nigel Davies writing a lot, I'm not surprised his videos are good too. And I've seen Shirov vids too and I completely agree -- his presentation is flat. I know chess.com videos are a bit different, but I think chess.com's IM Dan Rensch and IM David Pruess are fantastic teachers and make excellent videos.
A GM I Understand

I agree. Also, when the two of them get together, i.e., chess.com tv (pardon our blunders episode 14, it's highly entertaining. It's great chess tv.

I'm going through GM Simon Williams' DVD Killer Dutch and he is really good. I agree that the video lessons here are great, but they're kind of bite sized (which is a useful format too). Killer Dutch is 6.5 hours on a single opening so there's a little more depth than they can give you here in a 30 minute video.
Anyhow, I'd highly recommend Williams, I'm not sure if he has other videos, but I'll be checking, that's for sure.

Thank you. I'll look into GM Simon Williams.
I own three GM DVD's. One by Nigel Davies, The Colle System and two by Daniel King, Power Play 1: Mating Patterns and Power Play 12: The Hedgehog.
My next purchase will be Fritz trainer: Build a 1.d4 Repertoire by Nigel Davies, as I want to learn more of the 1.d4 systems/openings.
GM Nigel Davies is absolutely a brilliant teacher. I am watching one of his fritztrainer videos by chessbase that I purchased through www.wholesalechess.com. I saved money by not buying the dvd directly from www.chessbase.com. :)

I have two fritztrainer DVD's by GM Daniel King, and although he has a wonderful personality, when he gets excited...well...he talks pretty fast.
Although tactics are 95% of the game, videos are a pleasant way to fill one's head with chess knowledge.
Does anyone else collect chess DVD's, and what authors? Do you have a favorite chess player to listen too? I viewed a sample video of Alexej Shirov. He is about as exciting and inspirational as watching paint dry.

One thing, chess videos are not cheap! It's a luxury item for me.
