A interesting vintage chess set

The pieces have a modern design that reminds me a bit of Art Deco, but with rougher finish. These chess pieces have a strong personality... The pieces are not weighted, and have same lovely time patina!

The chessboard it was made by myself especially for these chess pieces. Table square 4cm. King has a tall figure (H 7,5cm, and base 2,5cm)

I have no information about this set. Has anyone seen anything like this?

It looks like it was crafted by a naturally talented prisoner who was serving a long sentence.

Wouldn't that be a cool provenance?

No it’s a line from the movie “The Shawshank Redemption”.

One of the best films ever made IMO

The reason this chess is good is because the different pieces have different angles for their necks. That helps to quickly estimate the board position.

Liked the way bishops and pawns are sharing similar designs but different heights for they have at least one thing in common (if not more). They both can capture an opponent's piece diagonally. Great chess set there.
