Add extra moves to an ended GM game

I am currently studying Giants of Chess Strategy, where I put all the games into a database in Chessbase including own comments and variations.
In some game I wanted to include some extra moves because I could not see the reason why the player resigned. But how to do that? Chessbase just adds the moves like the game continued and not as a variation.
I know I just can write a comment where the player resigned, but hope that there is a better solution.
