Adding weight to Duncan ceramic pieces

What is the best or easiest way to add weight to a Duncan ceramic set? I have a set that my mother made back in the 60s. Putting putty around the inside of the base seems easy. But what kind of putty? A type that air dries, or modeling clay? Or is filling the entire piece a better approach? Thanks.

I have a similar ceramic set that I've considered weighting as well, but haven't done it. I've seen some people recommend tungsten putty, but it's very expensive - about $5/oz. I've seen other people recommend simply filling the piece with shot and then adding epoxy. That seems a bit dicey to me as some of the shot may be loose and you will end up with something that rattles.

Whatever you try, I recommend buying a few cheap test pieces that you don't mind destroying. If the putty/epoxy expands, you might end up cracking the ceramic.

I have used modeling clay, as it's cheap easy to use and drys fast then felts . This was for my Chessnut air DIY set works great
