I recently got the Chessnut Air, and I really like it. The EVO would be even better. I would definitely recommend these e-boards over traditional boards. If you want an old-school feel while still enjoying modern features, the Chessnut Pro is a great option. It’s not standalone like the EVO, but it’s tournament-sized, made of solid wood, and, with the apps, it can have almost all the features of the EVO.
ai vs traditional chess board
You can go with the evo but there's another option when I was checking on chessnut site. I saw sensors selling separately. So, maybe, you can find a good board (traditional) one with a set of pieces (sensor compatible ones) and see if it works well with an app (it's available I guess). That won't be much of a tech-savvy experience like with a Chessnut Air or Pro but could bring the best of both worlds.

Unfortunately, those sensors still require the Chessnut board. They are sold to let you use fancy chessmen of your choice with their boards.

Yeah! Right. My mistake. I was thinking of the same but wrote the opposite. However, still, it's a good option for someone who is willing to make a collection of tech-enabled chess sets with traditional values.
I prefer the look of the traditional board but the ai board would be great to play against people or learn online.
Any advice welcome
