Here are my suggestions for what I consider to be an excellent introductory tactics curriculum, books, for the beginner through intermediate level player. Each of these books is very well written at a level appropriate for the improving chess amateur, and outstanding for their specific purpose - learning tactics. The books are listed in increasing order of "difficulty", i.e., the order in which I recommend they be studied...
1. Winning Chess by Irving Chernev - Devoted specifically to fundamental chess tactics. Get the Batsford edition for the best overall production and superior binding. Second choice would be the Russell Enterprises edition.

3. Back To Basics Tactics by Dan Heisman

I’ve almost finished the book ‘1001 exercies for beginners’. I’m still working out with ´mate in 4´ chapter but it is not easy for me so maybe I should return later. Anyway, can you recommend other chess tactics book? Now I’m considering the sequel ´1001 exercices for club players’ and ´Tactical Trainings’ recently published. Any other recommendations are welcome!
