Any recommendations for good chess books for players in the 1500-1600 level?

Hey :). I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestins for chess books for me. I don't want to spend a ton, but I'm willing to buy a few. I'm definately thinking "How to Reassess your Chess" by Silman, as it has recived many positive reviews. I'm generally weak at endgames, and I've heard of quite a few great endgame books, but I'm not sure if they're right for my level. Any advice?

Silman's Complete Endgame course has sections for each rating group and tests with answers. Good chess book.

Thanks, I was thinking of that one :).

Really I would recommend any collection of annotated games.  Something like Alekhine's "My Best Games of Chess" or "My 60 Memorable Games" by Fischer, etc.

In recommending books I think about the books in my collection that I would re-buy if they were all lost.

My System, The Amateurs Mind, and HTRYC (4th edition) including the workbook are all good suggestions.

Add to these: Silman's Complete Endgame course, and Fundamental Chess Openings by Paul van der Sterren. If you can find a copy of Blokh's Art of Combination, get it. Failing that, Polgar's 5334 problems.

There, that should keep you happy for a few years Laughing
