Bag for wooden board and wooden pieces?

I'm considering buying an 18" wooden board and bag to use at my local chess club with wooden FIDE championship pieces.  The bag is from ChessHouse: this bag.

Would this bag adequately protect wooden pieces?  I plan to put the bag in my car, and drive to the chess club and back. I'm not planning on checking this bag as airplane luggage etc. I'll probably also use the bag as the general storage for the pieces at home.

I already own the pieces, and like them a lot (yes, even the famously blocky knight).  I would be buying just the board and bag.

Super bonus question: has anybody actually used such a bag with the FIDE wooden pieces? The pieces seem pretty durable since they lack finely detailed knigthts, etc.

Thanks!

I use this exact bag to transport my chess board and wooden chess pieces. I keep the pieces in drawstring bags, one color per side pocket. the middle pocket is large enough to fit in a DGT north american clock.

I have used this set up with 3 different chess boards, 3 different clocks and about 4 different chess sets for over a year. 2-3 times per week I take it out in my car to play over the board games. So far no chess pieces have been damaged. I do place the bag with the pockets up however so that the weight does not rest on the chess sets.

At home I leave the bag loaded and use it as storage for the set up I plan to use next time I go out to play so its grab and go.

This is an 18 inch bag and originally I only used it for my 2" squares board and my 2.25" border-less board. However in the picture above that is a 2.25" squares board that while not border-less has a very narrow border/frame around the playing area and just barely barely fits.

Drawstring bags are from the same website btw. I prefer same color, that what way when I take them out I offer the choice of bag (and thus side) to my sparring partner and off we go. (and each of my usual play sets gets a different color so I can grab the set I like without opening bags)

Excellent!  That's exactly what I was hoping to do. Thanks for the detailed response.

Does anybody know if a Chronos DX with buttons (not sensors) will fit in the middle pocket?

Eyechess

Yes, the Chronos  DX will fit.

Thanks!

I have the same bag along with its bigger brother. I do like the bag but the top pouch in not padded. I don't trust placing my clock in this pouch. Other than that it has been a really nice wooden board and set bag.
