Best Book on Chess Dynamics?

Curious what the best literature is on dynamics. I feel like it’s an aspect of the game I’d like to work on, understanding how to properly evaluate the more temporary aspects of a position and how to exploit those types of advantages.

I’m guessing books on positional sacrifices would be helpful here. Curious what else is good. I heard that Gelfand's Dynamic Decision Making isn’t as good as his Positional Decision Making. Also guessing that anything about Mikhail Tal will be very relevant.

How To Play Dynamic Chess by Valeri Beim

It's an extremely instructive book.  Valeri Beam is one of the better chess book authors, who does a better than average job of explaining things - concepts, strategy, procedures, etc. -  thoroughly, in detail.

Well, Beim’s “How to Play Dynamic Chess” is the best place to start, indeed. Chess dynamism is such an important and multifaceted aspect, that concrete books only dealing with it are extremely rare. That’s what makes Beim’s book so good and useful.

In the absence of pure books on dynamism, therefore, one should look for books dealing with aspects of dynamism, such as “coordination of pieces,” “non-materialism,” “tactical pawn play,” “development and initiative,” etc. That is…. you can excavate these aspects of dynamic chess mostly in very good middlegame books.

Thus, I would also like to suggest the following complimentary books (in order of difficulty/playing-strength):

  1. A. Soltis, ”Rethinking the Chess Pieces” (this is a must, to begin your journey on dynamic chess. Pairs excellently with Kuljasevic’s book listed below)
  2. D. Marovič, “Dynamic Pawn Play”
  3. V. Beim, “Back To Basics: Strategy” (superb book on piece coordination and harmony)
  4. I. Sokolov, “Sacrifice and Initiative in Chess” (almost every book by Sokolov…)
  5. D. Kuljasevic, “Beyond Material”
  6. M. Suba, “Dynamic Chess Strategy” (only for very advanced players)
  7. V. Jansa, “Dynamics of Chess Strategy” (only for very advanced players)
  8. B. Gelfand, ”Dynamic Decision Making in Chess” (only for very advanced players)

Extra (non-book) material:

I would suggest watching ChessBase’s Fritztrainer DVDs by Dejan Bojkov, as well as Édouard Romain’s recent 2 DVDs on Middlegame Strategy, and Ivan Sokolov’s 6 DVDs on Middlegame Strategy. These DVDs are excellent for studying and practicing dynamic thinking and understanding in chess.

Can someone gift this poor man "The Soviet Chess Primer" and "How to Play dynamic Chess"? I love chess. My grandpa taught me how to play. I'm genuinely interested in the books,.not asking for money.

Never heard of that author, nor that particular book. Ever. Can you provide more info? Date. Publisher. Amazon link. Something?
