I'm around 900-1000 rank so not very good but eager to get better. I have 5 weeks off during Christmas break and wanted to do some studying to try and improve my game.
I have Opening moves down pretty well and don't struggle with any counters. My issue is the mid game and then I am awful at the end game(Losing when I am up pieces by blundering awful).

Suggestions on 1-2 books to try out? Or should I just stick to videos? THat's what I have been doing

If you are looking for a good way to spend money getting better at chess, getting a premium membership and watching the video lessons and doing drills is a great way to go. Alternatively, Chess24 has a lot of good resources if you are willing to pay for it.

John Bartholomew has a series on YouTube called Chess Fundamentals where he plays online games with players of about yours (and mine) strength to demonstrate the mistakes players around this rating make - such as hanging pieces, lacking piece coordination, not recognising threats and he explains how to calculate threats to pieces and squares. The series was a breakthrough for me and how I calculate at the board since watching his videos.

Though I haven’t read that many chess books, the ones I have read tend not to give any focus towards avoiding the blunderbuss travesties that we lower rated players happen into. If it is not pointed out, how can one address the issue.
