Any reccomendation on which engines are best and powerful to analyse openings?

im currently using Lichess engine and database for my openings

( note that i said analysing openings not analysing games !!

for analysing games chess.com depth 20 engine is enough for me ;D )

But the downside of lichess database is that they dont go after move 25 of an opening..they say no more games available from this position even though im pretty sure there are lot more games

also no games from the past masters like capablanca , morphy etc

but more importantly in openings the lichess engine doesnt goo deep ..it takes way too much time to reach depth 30

considering my black repertorie is very sharp (Dragon, dutch ) i simply cannot afford to forget my theory and make any innaccuracy in the opening

i loose many games as black simply because i dont remember the correct move order in the dragon or i forget the main moves in hopton attack in dutch and gets obliterated

( i dont have this problem as white though )

So any reccomendations ?happy.png

Agree...Stockfish 14.1 is a very good engine. But I use either the commercial version of Komodo or ChessBase 14 as the front end for the Stockfish engine--then I can compare and contrast what Komodo and Stockfish have to suggest. I have not been able to get Lc0 (sometimes called Leela) to work yet.

I like to use Stockfish and Komodo. Stockfish is my main analysis engine. But if I'm unsure, or not liking a line, I'll switch to Komodo, to see what it suggests.

I find that Komodo's suggestions are sometimes more "human" and logical. A lot depends on the position, though.

What platform are you running? On a Mac, HIARCS or HIARCS Pro comes with its own engine (two, actually )and others can be loaded. There is a cost associated with HIARCS but it is not unreasonable. It is relatively easy to install Stockfish, Komodo, or Dragon, Komodo’s latest.

www.komodochess.com has the free version (Komodo 12) for download. It's about 3400 in strength.

You can also analyze with Komodo 13, here on chess.com, in the browser.

Go to the Analysis board, click the settings gear (top right corner of the board). Change the engine to Komodo. Then change the engine depth to 99 (Unlimited). thumbup.png

The top rated engine in the world [at least, a month ago] Stockfish 14.1, is free. The Komodo 12 version is free and stronger than any human, but not as good as Stockfish...or Lc0. Lc0 is also free.

This is a game between Stockfish 14.1 and Komodo 12.1; latest free versions of each.

It is an instructive demonstration of Stockfish domination. It is reporting +3 before Komodo even realised the danger.
