best laptop

I'm considering buying a new powerful laptop for chess. What should the specs be? I have my eyes on Acer Predator 15, what do you think?

I have a bottom of the line toshiba.  If you plan on using it just for chess, you dont need anything expensive, powerful, or fancy. 

With the obvious exception of GMs doing serious tournament prep.  There must be like, oh hundreds, of folks making a living from the game who really do need the best out there.  For the rest of us, not so much.  Some do really prefer a larger screen though.  Make sure you at least take a look at the 17" models as well as the 15".  

Acer predator is great,I have it my self and it performs very good with fritz 15

The 50" models are quite nice too, if you are blind like me. I got one for around $300.00 but that's shelling out a lot of pinto beans.

Acer is probably the only manufacturer that I wouldn't recommend.  My experience with them has shown me that they are poorly built.  My daughter actually had the monitor fall off its hinges.

As for which one to buy, any windows based laptop with adequate RAM will do.  I run an older Alienware 15" and have no problems.  I would recommend at least 16 GB of RAM and any system that doesn't use the terrible intel graphics chipset... look for NVidia or ATI GPU's.

16GB?  Mine has 4 and it is more than enough for my chess study.

u dont need a strong computer jus get the app lichess .. play the game.. analyze they got strong computer using the latest stockfish .. fast and freee u cant beat it 

I find 4Gb painfully slow.

I am happy with the laptop I purchased for chess. The 17 inch HP and it runs chessbase and its associated software well. i7 quad, Nvidia graphic card, 16 gig ram and a large solid state hard drive. Got a good price from HP during the Memorial Day Sale.
