Post a picture please and tell us something about it.

You might want to post a picture of a chess pieces, that you are already have or the ones you dream of.

Some people believe heavy pieces are perfect for playing chess some think heavy is not very good for blitz play and they must be on a light side( just slightly weighted or not at all).

Which chess board do you prefer?

I had a similar question a couple years ago and got some good responses.  Ended up with a basic Chess Bazaar Staunton Series set.  Here's the thread:

I've heard people argue both sides of the weighted pieces for blitz argument.  While the stability of weighted pieces is definitely a plus, one guy told me he thought the weighted pieces were tough on the wrist during fast play.  Me, I'm fine with either.

Don't be shy show the world what you play on or you dream of, remember for blitz purposes only thx

Post a picture so we all can see a chess set with a board

IMO It is best, as a beginner, to use a wood set since they are used at chess clubs and in tournaments across the world and for blitz play, I'll say it's hard to find a good wooden chess set because options are very limited. Even I researched on it a lot & I’m very picky about my chess sets. But when CB came with blitz chess set, I pulled the trigger & rewarded myself with this wonderful chess set. Cb blitz chess set is the one I'm using right now for blitz play. The set meets both USCF and FIDE tournament requirements. I prefer to play with a wood chess set, even in higher level tournament play, especially FIDE tournaments, they use wooden pieces and boards. Here are some pictures of my set.

Another factor to consider this chess set is the material the pieces are made of. The quality of wood used is the top line.

Superbly carved knights

nullKnights have greater detail and made of single piece of wood.

nullBishops have a more pronounced Mitre.

From my viewpoint, the proportioned weighted and the superbly carved knights make these chessmen a joy to play with. Even German knight pieces fall down in blitz play but this set is so perfectly weighted that pieces don't fall down while playing fast. Without any doubt one of the best I've bought from Chess bazaar.

The only downside is that it will cost you more than a German knight tournament chess set.

Very nice indeed.

How much does the king weights? How much does knight weights?

What board are you using it with it, especially when carrying to a tournament?

That's just how it goes. One often has to buy the pieces and board separately. Especially in this case, where the focus is on finding a particularly sturdy set of pieces.

The weight of the knight & king is 1.7oz & 2.1oz. I used to carry a silicon chess board (55mm square size) in the tournament.

Wow very heavy set, not sure if it's good for playing blitz tho, speed chess.

Silicone also not good you can't slide, which results in time loss.

55mm square size is good tho

In Russia we use this chess pieces in all major tournaments and board is just a bonus if you want to carry it with you, you can and also sliding is easy on it.

The set isn't triple weighted! I agree that playing from heavily weighted pieces is really tough. But this set is so appropriately weighted that you can't feel the weight while moving pieces onto the board and the stability of weighted pieces is definitely a plus point. If your unweighted piece might fall onto the board while moving, I guess it will be a more cumbersome situation.

The texture of the silicone board is different than a vinyl board, therefore you can move the chess piece on it.

Great pics of this set - especially the knights! I see the detail is a bit down from what's shown on the chessbazaar site but they still look pretty sweet! Looks like a set that will hold up to years of play!

GM_Alphazer0

N35+ magnets under every square on the board and the pieces MAKE SURE THEY DON’T REPEL THEY SHOULD BE IN THE CENTRE OF THE SQUARE

if a piece tips over then the magnetic force should pull it back

I own the set.....love it...

Wood gets chipped and damaged easily during fast blitz games. For blitz plastic chess set is best.

Yes Russ that is beautiful!, How heavy does the King weigh and are the Knights made from a single piece of wood?

I haven't weighed the set or the pieces.  But they are well weighted, pretty much like any other good wood set of similar (high) quality.  Yes, the Knight is carved from a single solid piece of wood.  The tips of the Queen's coronet are slightly blunted to resist chipping.  Both of these are features to mitigate against damage in blitz games.  Also the bases are ever so slightly broader than you might normally see in similar sized wood sets, for increased stability, again a benefit when playing blitz.
