Books + "Chess Structures: A Grandmaster Guide" by Rios

Hello fellows! Finally I can make a post of my own :D

I'm currently collecting Chess books. I have an Arabic translation of "Strategy & Tactics in Chess" by Ewe and I've ordered "chess 5334 problems combinations and games" by Polgar.

I've decided to buy these three books:

1) How to Reassess Your Chess, by Silman.

2) Techniques of Positional Play, by Bronznik.

3) Art of Attack in Chess, by Vukovic.

I have two questions:

1) Are there any other must-have books that you would recommend for me?

2) What do you think about "Chess Structures: A Grandmaster Guide" by Rios?

Thanks for your help.

Embarassed Damn !

Yesterday in my local club, there was an elementary rook endgame (W:Kh6,Rh7,Ph5; B:Kc4,Rf1). You should know how to win this endgame with white to move by heart. Unfortunately, among the five 1800+ players there, only I knew it. " Frown

I bought "Chess Structures: A Grandmaster Guide" by Rios? and the little bit that i have studied is excellent.

Thanks all for helping me and for your recommendations Cool

I have two more questions:

1) What about "Dvoretsky's Analytical Manual" by Dvoretsky?

2) And what about "Liquidation on the Chess Board" by Benjamin?

Thanks for the help.

If you are a strong player (1800+), then "Chess Structure" would be a good read. It is very instructive.

Also if you are 1800+, a must-read is "Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual".Most players in United States do not know the endgame well enough.

Actually I can't rate myself because I have never played in a championship, I would rate myself as "Low inetrmediate". My goal is to study all these books first then start joining championships.

I don't find the endgame that hard, but it could be due to my lack of experience. Dvoretsky's endgame book seems quite worth studying. Thank you for recommending it.

@ylblai2 Thanks so much for the helpful reviews Cool

@xjian77 Thanks for the advice Cool my plan is to buy many good chess books then study them one by one as long as it takes, so I guess I'll make Dvoretsky's Analytical Manual the last one of all to study.

@pfren ευχαριστώ πολύ Cool Are you sure that this book teaches something different from the others like Chess Structues by Rios?
