Books on gambits

Hi everyone,

I am really interested in learning various gambits and ideas behind them. I did a quick search on Google but could only find books that dig deep into individual gambits (e.g. King's Gambit). I am not looking for hardcore opening theory but rather to get some know-how about gambits and arrive to a position that is comlex, full of tactics and double-edged (chess players favourite word!).

Can anyone recommend a book that cover multiple gambits?

Cheers!

"The Alterman Gambit Guide..." by Boris Alterman.

This is a three-volume series.  Volume 1 covers White Gambits; Vols 2 & 3 cover Black Gambits.  These  do a good job (though not exhaustive) of covering the few gambits they are concerned with.  The the gambits and coverage appear to simply reflect the author's preferences.

Note that the coverage does not deal exclusively with gambits, but includes other highly tactical lines of play as well.  The following are the chapters of Volume 1:

1.The Danish Gambit

2.The Urusov Gambit

3. The Philidor

4.The Cochrane Gambit

5.The Morphy Attack

6.The Max Lange Attack

7. The Evans Gambit

8. The Panov Attack

9. The Morra Gambit

10. The Milner-Barry Gambit

Nigel Davies has published a two-volume set on gambits - Gambiteer I (White gambits) and Gambiteer II (Black gambits).  These are essentially recommended gambit repertoires for White and Black.  For White the primary gambits are the Danish Gambit and the Sicilian Wing Gambit.  For Black the Schliemann Gambit (against the Ruy Lopez) and the Albin Counter Gambit against the Queen's Gambit.
