Bug with Chessmaster XI Interface

I recently purchased Chessmaster XI (Grandmaster) and have found that the software has greatly improved my game. However, the floating windows regularly disappear/display incorrectly mid-game. I can temporarily fix the problem by minimizing and restoring the game window or by choosing a different chess set, but this is hardly ideal. I have found a couple of references to the problem on the web, but no definitive solution. Ubisoft recommend decreasing screen resolution on their site, but this does not resolve the problem.

I am running Windows XP with an AMD Athlon 2800+, 1GB RAM and Radeon 9250 (with latest drivers). I also have the latest Chessmaster patch. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Thanks Cap'n Bob!  I will re-post this message on their forum. If anyone finds a solution in the meantime then please let me know. Cheers.

The issues are caused by my PC not being able to allocate enough memory/resources to the graphics within Chessmaster. I can alleviate (though not completely fix) the problem by lowering the chess engine and blunder alert settings to their lowest settings. These can be found under Preferences > Engine. Switching off glare and shadows under Board Settings also helps.

Finally, disabling startup items in msconfig frees up some additional resources from the Operating System. Start > Run > msconfig > OK. Navigate to Startup tab and disable all. Obviously this is not ideal for everyday Windows use, but for a Chessmaster session it works just fine.... but be aware that Antivirus protection will not be active! Hope this helps others too.....
