Chessbase is recognized as the choice of professionals. However it's pretty expensive. Plus they come out with a new version every other year. To overcome that I buy two versions back on ebay. chess assistant-aquarium or chessbase for analysing games?

Chessassistant has not had an update to the actual program in many years (they just update the databases each year). If you are interested in comparing with Aquarium vs CB I would say Fritz 16 would be the way to go. I have found it much easier to learn than Aquarium 2018.
