Everything is cheap & easy - until it’s a work-in-progress pin

It looks similar to this art storage rack sold on Amazon for $36.

Looks very nice, @baudouin27.

Very easy to make at almost no cost and also practical

Okay, I know you can build one for $15 in an hour and a half or order one on Amazon for $30. My wife took away my Amazon account and I’m really slow - so 2 months later, here it is, done finally.

And it started with some table legs:

That's really nice  baudouin27 May be she wanted you to use all them nice tools you had got from Amazon . wink

cry That is hysterical. She’s tough! Honestly, I enjoy making nice things with wood but have zero tools and even less time - just desire!

Very creative! Well done mate!

Colorado Woodworker! Thank you, Brad. You could save many of us some blood, sweat and tears by building a prototype for us board lovers! Maybe offer it in two wood options (oak, hard maple) and two sizes (3 bay, 4 bay)?

Wow....I love it baudouin27! If you are will to make another, I am willing to pay handsomely! Either way, congrats and it looks amazing my friend!

I am strongly considering it, however; I am not sure if I can do something as nice as what you build!

Amazingly brilliant!

First of all, congratulations on your collection!

Secondly, the idea of using table legs is both very clever thumbup and economical.

I've opted for a very narrow shelf dedicated solely to chessboards.

At the bottom, I’ve still left some brackets because each chessboard weighs 10-15 kg happy.png Once I move the collection to its proper place, I’ll probably hang them without the shelf.

ChessboArt,

Nice solution, wonderful boards! Not sure you’re in Poland, but wonderful place to find boards and sets -

Okay, making room in the rack - one beauty must go unfortunately:

Hi,

Yes, I am from Poland, and you are warmly welcome :)

I still need to make a shelf with very shallow drawers to store chessboards at various stages of production, so they can dry properly, for example, after gluing or painting. Such shelves were once used to store maps and later technical drawings, which I also find appealing.
Like that, I would like to find similar and renovate it:

Of course, it has to be made of wood and look good.

Gorgeous. Old library catalogue cabinets have a similar appeal. I’m in Krakow from time to time to visit my wife’s family. Wonderful place - and plenty of chess products!!

You made a very lovely rack. My problem would be that it would hold only a fifth of my chess boards. Or my problem could be that I have too many chess boards tongue.
