I have $100 to spend on a chess clock. I have three that I have been looking at. What are your opinions on these or can you suggest another?

DGT North American

DGT 2500

Zmart Pro

Thank you for any help

I don't recommend the DGT North American. It looks and feels a little clunky. I recommend either the DGT 3000 or the DGT 2500 (I can't speak to the Zmart). Both have pros and cons.

I would recommend the DGT 3000 since it is just under $100. It is the most versatile to set up, looks good, and feels good. You will notice a lot of big events these days use the DGT 3000.

The alternative would be the DGT 2500. The DGT 2500 does have a bolder display for the numbers (which is better imo), but the lever is much heavier - and this makes more of a difference on comfort when hitting the clock than you would think.

I recently played with the new DGT 2500. Even though I didn’t like the design, when it was released, the clock has a much better display than the DGT 2010. Also, I very much liked the lever. So personally, my next clock would be this one.

I've got DGT3000 and a happy with it. I think the DGT2500 is also a great choice.

I like the style of the DGT Easy as well. I designed and 3D printed one for a chess computer project of mine that was similar to this.

None of the Zmart clocks show seconds in hour long time controls when using the hour(hh)/minute(mm) format, until after the time drops to 59 minutes or below. You also can't set seconds in HH:MM modes either, which is why the increment modes have strange options for when the increment is added. The DGT NA is similar in how seconds get shown except it doesn't show seconds until there is 20 minutes left on that side of the clock.

Zmart has made three clocks since the LED Zmart 2 clocks, and besides phone integration, the programming is as clunky as ever. Even their $120 dual screen version has this system. They updated their clocks to show the move counter at the same time as the main time, but hours, minutes and seconds is too hard for them....

DGT 2500 is nice and a lot more clear than the DGT 3000.

DGT 3000 has more options, more custom presets for any time control, and allows unlimited repeating or mixed mode time controls. (the only other clock that can do mixed mode time controls is the Chronos GX, and that clock has other issues, one rather serious). The DGT NA and another budget DGT are getting updated to the DGT 2500 form factor. No idea if the DGT 3000 is also getting updated, but people love making money so I wouldn't be surprised...

I ordered the ZMart Pro. It was a toss up between it and the DGT2500. I may still buy the DGT in the future.

Thanks for the help.

I don't like touch buttons, so I would stay away from all the Zmart ones personally. I have no issues with any of the DGT clocks. I have the 3000 and a North American, and both are ubiquitous, and here.
My favorites are the Chronos clocks, but they are nearly impossible to find now.

I got the ZMF Pro in today and played around with the settings. It is built nicely. I like the metal construction. The buttons are sensitive. They work great. It is different not having a mechanical lever or button. But seems fine. The light identifying which side is at play is real nice. I got the black one and the paint is not gloss like on the blue. It was a powdercoat like texture. I dont play tournaments and usually just play 10 minute Rapid games with friends so this clock is overkill for me.

Thanks for all the help.
