Thats a beauty of a board. I bought stuff from them a long time ago. Its sad to see them out of business.

the owner of Chess Forum worked at VCS before a falling out. if they had them while he worked there, he may know their origins or at least what they were made of.

If anyone would know, it would be nycchess (I believe that is their login on Chess.com). They bought the VCS from Larry and they might have kept those boards. I tried to link them in this post but clearly was not successful.
