Sometimes I use http://www.shredderchess.com/online-chess/online-databases/opening-database.html for openings (I think it is legal because it has no comp evaluation or something like that).

But I wonder the same as you too...

I don't think so. You can get around some of the limitations of CB Light by using CBL9 in combination with Fritz 5.32, but ultimately CBL9 is crippleware designed to whet your appetite and get you to buy the real thing.

Stormstout

I don't know what you are looking for as properties but I use SCID, it is pretty good for a free program.

Aren't there later versions of chessbase light?

Chessbase just revamped their website a few days ago. Heck, I don't even see the downloads for the old versions. Maybe they've given up on CBL?

assuming this is 4 greece, i think that u can get away with some rubbish software which you can do just about what u need, but careful for legal stuff and scams etc. For a long-term solution, i reckon it is best to get something better (cb11 for example) which is fairly cheap but still quite good. I suggest u have a look at the chessbase website and see what you can find

Zhere is are totally free databases out there i forget the name. Its not dubious legality, games arent copyrighted everyone can use them . I think it was called scid but i might have mistaken it with another program.

There are many other out there too, but most players dont need them anyway.

InfiniteFlash

If you want a free database that is for free, then go to chesslive.de, It has millions of games.

RugbyGuy12
