Are chess players no longer interested in chess informant nowadays? It is rsrely mentioned in forums about chess books or suggested by cc members. Back in my youth 80s, it is popular.

Oh yea...back in the day, CI was what you wanted.  I still believe it is invaluable, but with the internet, you dont need to wait a month for the "latest and greatest".

Although the perodicals are no longer necessary beacuse of the internet, 1000 Best of the Best and Encyclopedia of Chess Combinations I think should be part of the chess books collection of chess players.

I think one of the best benefits of chess informant is it demanded you actually THINK.  No verbiage, just those informant symbols.  You either sink or swim.

Thats true. CI never use verbal annotations. Too much explanation slows down the learning process.
