To my eyes, the King, Queen, Bishop, Knight and Rook pieces were from the Ultimate Chess Set. Then they used the pawns from the quadruple weight plastic 4” Staunton chess set.
In other words: it’s a “Frankensteined” chess set
Chess set from Garry Kasparov Masterclass

Ultimate Series Staunton except the pawns.

You guys aren’t even close. It’s a HOS Reykjavik set. And yes, the one in Masterclass is plastic. HOS makes a white and black variation.
Why would Kasparov use a Frankensteined set? It makes no sense. It is not logical, Mr. Spock.
I agree. Quite a coincidence since I ordered that set recently at it arrived two days ago. Same colors as shown here.

My bad. I compared it with CB Reykjavik. And the rooks looked a little different. And also most of the pawns in CB sets are stouter. Thats why the Ultimate piece looked close to me.

Would have been nice if Kasparov designed the pieces himself just like when he co-designed the 90s set with Guigou Paris.
Nice set. I’ll keep this HoS set in mind when my players finally break my 4” quad-weighted Staunton and my camel ProTourney pieces. Prior to this post, I already decided that the replacement set will be the Legend Alegria Staunton pieces designed by @dennis_petersen.

Just wanted to mention that world champions DO “Frankenstein” the sets they play on, even on the World Chess Championship stage.

After a year, how many of you have taken Kasparov’s MasterClass and owned the HoS Reykjavik set he used for the class?
Hi:
Does anyone know what chess set Kasparov is using here in his Masterclass?
