Did you check http://database.chessbase.com ? I wonder after this why would someone buy the Chessbase Database offline version any more when this online version is free?

The paid version has annotated games and the ability to search for in-game positions.

Here is a fairly intelligent discussion of what you can do- http://uscfsales.wordpress.com/2012/01/24/how-to-use-the-chess-mega-database-with-chessbase-and-fritz/

Thank you very much. I see the value addition now. The annotation and ability to search games based on various felxible conditions. There are more but these 2 is a MUST HAVE for any serious chess player. But until I buy chessbase, this online version will give me at least some games against any renowned opponent I might be facing.

Try SCID v PC. It is free, and you can download millions of games. They are not annotated, but as far as database functions, I don't think you are missing much.

Thank you Bradu. I have been using SCID in my Mac for more than year now. I am very happy with what SCID allows me to do. Still i think chess database is a different market and value of its own.
