my brother got me chessbase for christmas, and i don't really know what it does, besides storing games. also, is there a deeper opening database of master games than you can find elsewhere? i'm no good with computers, so please don't give answers expecting me to be :)

Blundering

There are a number of databases that you can get for Chessbase.

http://www.chessbase-shop.com/en/products/5851 - is the best that i know of, made by the same company that makes Chessbase.  Its a massive database of games, and includes a lot of games with annotations.

There are also a number of free databases around as well, which you can download.

Chessbase can be used to filter these databases, run reports on individual players, gives openings info - all based on the database you have.

 

So first step is get a database
