Chessmaster 10th & 11th EGDB Files (3-4-5 Piece Set)

I'm not sure how useful this will be to Chessmaster users, because the King engine only uses endgame database files (Chessmaster's term for endgame tablebase files) in playing mode, not in analysis mode. Also, the EGDBs only work within the Chessmaster GUI. However, in case anyone is interested, here they are for download, for a limited time.

The Chessmaster 10th edition and 11th edition (Grandmaster Edition) programs supply all of the 3-piece and 4-piece EGDB files, but only a small number of the 5-piece EGDB files. A good while back, I decided that I wanted the full 3-4-5-piece set, so being a lazy person, I first searched the internet to see if they were available for download. I didn't find them, so I had to resort to generating them using the endgame database generator available from the Ubisoft Chessmaster forum download page. Anyone can generate the files himself, but it takes time to learn how to use the EGDB generator program, generate the files, and then verify the integrity of the files.

There are 920 EGDB files totaling about 5 & 2/3 gigabytes. For free users, the Sendspace filesharing service limits the file size to 300 MB, so in order to create a zipped file, I had to split it into 20 parts to stay below the 300 MB file size limit. Now for a little bad news: If you don't have a paid Sendspace account, you can only download 300 MB per hour, which means in this case only 1 large file an hour. Another limitation is that Sendspace limits free users to a total of 1 GB of downloads per day, although I haven't yet figured out the exact details of the daily limit. (Edit - Apparently, Sendspace will let you download 4 of the large files per day.) The bottom line is that free users will have to be patient to download all 20 files. I wish we didn't have these limits, but that's the way it is.

To extract the EGDB files from the 20 split zipped files, you'll have to use some kind of unzip utility. I use the free 7-Zip utility ( http://www.7-zip.org ), but any should do. (Just extract the files from the CM_EGDB.zip.001 file.)

I need to explain the "limited time" statement. For free Sendspace users, an uploaded file will be deleted from the Sendspace servers if nobody downloads the file over a 30-day period. So the files will be available for at least 30 days, but there would have to be periodic downloads for the time period to be extended.

To download a file from the Sendspace server, copy and paste the download link into your browser. When the Sendspace download page appears, don't do anything except click on the download link. Don't create an account, and don't enter any e-mail addresses. Just click on the download link.

You'll need to download the 20 split zipped files and the three other files: The "CM_EGDB_Readme.txt" file, the "Md5Checker.exe" file, and the "CM_EGDB.md5" file. Read the "CM_EGDB_Readme.txt" file for further instructions.

I just realized that the Ubisoft link for the Chessmaster Endgame DB Generator is now broken, and I wasn't even able to find a working link on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. In case anyone would like to play with the EGDB generator, I uploaded the file to Sendspace. The enclosed FEG.EXE generator is Version 3.03c, which I think was the last version made.

I do still have the EGDB files on an old hard drive, but I would prefer not to have to upload over 5 GB of files that would probably expire after a month. Hopefully you can generate the files on your own?

I'd have to check on any add-on lessons for Chessmaster. If I have any of those types of files, I never used them and don't remember them. But I'll try to check to see if I have any.

On the add-on lessons, the only thing close that I could find were 5 user-created tutorials as listed in this link:

The links to the tutorials are broken. (I couldn't even find good Internet Archive Wayback links.) I have the files, but I never used them and don't know if they're any good. Based on the descriptions, I'm not sure how useful they would be. But if you want them, I guess I could put them all in one master zip file and upload them, too. Let me know if you're interested.

No worries.. Thank you, this endgame generator is fine. I know that the big file for the already generated endgame databases are not that good to be uploaded for a very short time.

You can use these upload links
https://anonfiles.com or https://bayfiles.com where you will have a maximum of 20GB file size for each files you can upload. So making them split into file sizes of 20GB or smaller is a good idea. I use it also to place large file sizes. I think, uploads from those websites also lasts for a long time. And this software won't have problems staying for a long time on any of those file hosting websites. Those file hosting sites will ask you to copy the created url link for the download as it won't show you the link again once you close the page after uploading a file.

Well, those two upload links you posted seem a bit sketchy to me, so I'll pass on those. :-)

I collected all of the downloads that I had from the CM10 forum download page that now have broken links, and I threw them into one zip file (CM10_Broken_DL_Links.zip). I had most of them, although I never downloaded the Sounds file, the Early Chessmasters Mod file, or the detailed instructions on creating your own Chessmaster sets.

As long as the links provided works, it is perfectly fine. I'll definitely keep this on my google drive as well. This generator and the tutorials cannot be seen anymore on any websites and I can't see other people if they still know these added tools. Well very few still goes on using chessmaster.

I'm eager to download 3-4-5 men EGTB for Chessmaster as i find the GM personalities of some interest. The GUI lack adjudication settings so 5-men will speed up the games somewhat. 

Would appreciate if someone can make the files available again.

Another thing. For best possible engine performance. Do you have any tips or advice.

Is there any configuration file in the settings that is more convenient for tweak and adjustment than the engine setting in the gui ?

Do you know if the egtb files are probed in search before 3-4-5 pieces remain on the board. 

That is also my impression so far. Once within tablebase territory, the speed skyrocket to final result. 

I find it fascinating to see GM personalities play against each other. I've always used top engines, but i make exception for Chessmaster. 

Some of the files are blank when downloaded while some show up as winrar folder.
