Hi,

Could anyone with experience of modding this game (boards and pieces) contact me by private message?

Thanks!

To unlock all chess sets without having to win rated games, you can do this:Open up 'My Computer', and select 'Local Disk (C)'.Go to Program Files\Ubisoft\Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition\Data\Users.Select the folder for your user.Open the .INI file for your user.Under [settings], add the following line: unlockstuff=1.Save the INI file.

Thanks for the tip! Do you also happen to know where the old DAT files are kept? I can't find them anywhere on my PC but I can't add a new piece set until I can locate the backups of the old sets. Thanks.

My CM10 dat files are located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Chessmaster 10th Edition\Data\Dat

Many thanks. I know where the main DAT files/ piece sets are kept, I just can't find the backups. Until I can delete some of the backups, I can't import my new set sad.png

Sorry, I didn't realize you were in the process of modifying a dat file. I *think* I understand the source of the problem. I guess you got an error message stating, "There are already 1000 B0_Expert II.dat backups. Please remove at least one and retry."

As far as I can tell, the error message is not due to too many backups (I don't think there are any), but it's because you're trying to modify a file that's in a protected program folder. Try running the DatTexExtract program as administrator, and I don't think you'll get the error message.
