Christmas Chess Pieces and Board

I just aquired some amazing chess pieces from the House of Staunton! I also got a board from http://www.custom-wood-creations.net/ Pictures are below: Pieces made of Blood Rosewood and Ebony with 4.4" King. Board made out of African Padauk and Wenge. 2.5" squares and dimensions are 25 x 25.

P.S. For the first picture, the board the pieces are on was $4,500 on H.O.S. so I got the other one that I posted. I feel that the board I bought is actually better. So for the first picture pieces only. I would take pictures of the set and share them with you but I don't yet have all the items. I have the pieces but not the board yet. I'll wait until I get everything to take pictures. Tell me what you think!

Those knights should never be captured exchanged or sacrificed imo...oh and happy holidays to all :)

Thanks for all your comments guy! I appreciate it! @LuftWaffles, I bought a set directly from them for a bit more than what you saw on ebay. All in all I am happy with the pieces, that's all that matters! I bought the board separately from the link I mentioned in the original post.

P.S. @uncopyrightables Haha! I know right! Funny guy!

Got my chess set! Here are some photos!

I am very happy with the quality of my pieces! No problems on any pieces. The cross on the top of the black king fell out but I just had to push it in because the wood is beveled and then it stuck.

Also, the camera has terrible resolution but I see what your saying. On the site the pieces look more like an african padauk rather than a Blood Rosewood. All In all I love the chess set though!

Pretty nice when even the pawns show an air of elegance or majesty about them!

Ah, well there's one of Joel's fabulous creations! I really like that board! Was going to order one myself. On the other hand, considering the color of the pieces that I'm ordering (not from HOS but from their craftsman), I was won over with his Curly Maple and Black Wenge variation: as I too am ordering a set in Gaboon Ebony and African Padauk ("Blood Rosewood", as HOS dubs it) and possibly ordering half a set in Boxwood or Holly, I have three different colors that need a board where two colors for square would be fitting regardless of which 2 random armies out of the 3 would be chosen. Turns out, the classic black and white would do.

You see, if players chose the Boxwood and Padauk army, the boxwood army's similar color to the Curly mape squares would be consistent, rendering the Padauk army and Wenge dark squares visually compatible. If players chose the Padauk and Ebony army, the lighter Crimson Padauk would be the white pieces, and the consistency of Ebony and Wenge would render them (the Padauk army and Curly Maple squares) comptaible. And finally, if the players chose the Boxwood and Ebony army, the colors would match the chessboard perfectly, see?

I'm sure no one truly knows what the hell I'm talking about, because even I almost lost myself in trying to explain it, but there you go. Tongue Out

Besides the color configuration, I found the Wenge and Maple to be cheaper than the Wenge and Padauk board.

On a sidenote, I've very recently began to wonder what the fuss is over "Red Sandalwood", since African Padauk, as shown in your pictures, is just as glimmering crimson in luster. Red Sandal used to be the wood  that House of Staunton used for their "Blood Rosewood" title. Since the 2011 ban on Sandalwood export by Indian law, HOS has since substituted Padauk for it.

Honestly, what's the difference really?
