Excellent! A proper box for standing Kings. Much more civilized. Is that a newly arrived Noj Minceta? Could you share the time it took from when you placed the order to when it arrived? Just taking notes
Watch out! Rxg7+

Beautiful wood grain but out of curiosity why is it called tiger style? Which ever side it is pretty much winning.
Thanks Pawnerai, born date on the Minceta was 11.24.2020. Wait time, I want to say a few months. This was before the extended lead time. Order placed definitely before queen's gambit came out.
@kineticPawn thank you! The wood grain pattern looks like tiger stripes. It's hard to capture it with photos. While researching I ran into tiger maple. Fell in love first sight. Also, Andrew Kruglinski "the woodworker" highly recommended it as it gives great contrast when the light hits it at angles.
Oh ok, I thought it was something with the box design. Curly maple is beautiful and has that kind of holographic quality where small viewing angle changes make a big difference, enjoy.
There appears to be something wrong with that setup. Please ship it to me (all of it so I can see it all together) so I can examine it and tell you how to best fix it when you finally get it back ... Shouldn't take me more than about 10 years.
Fantastic combination of elements.
I have found that any time of day is a good time of day for a good single malt ...
Damn! That is how one puts a quality chess set to rest!
I was worried that I was the only guy who got off on a nice chess box/coffer,but yours is gorgeous (Pawnerai.....sorry I missed your thread...super box).
That wood is very desirable and is considered premium on acoustic guitars and especially mandolins.
Good choice.
Ahhh…. Food for the eyes and soul. Fiddleback Maple is a fine quality wood and has the feel of depth in the grain. Well done!
Love everything about this set up . . .
the box is great, love the pieces, the table is awesome!!!!!
Well done!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone for the nice compliments! I'm happy to contribute along side you all. Its because of this forum I get to see so many ideas and discussions around sets / box / tables etc., which to me is very interesting. I'm grateful to have worked with ADKwoodworking to produce this luxurious chess box. In fact I have an open order in for another made from walnut.
@powderdigit & Rsava - You both have a point on the tumbler Hope your guys enjoy!

@stumOnner In your original posting you mentioned that you requested the box to have an internal height of 4-5/8in to possibly accommodate a set with 4.5in Kings. Did you also want to have the entire 4.5in King set standing? If yes, this might be a good time to triple check the measurements of the box length and width before having the additional walnut box made.
The base "footprint" of a 4.5in King set is significantly larger than the footprint of your existing 3.5in King Dubrovnik set. Just going by your photos, it looks like it might juuuuust fit. A very cozy fit. Hah! In any case, I'm sure the second box will turn out similarly handsome!
PS. Ask for "figured walnut"
Hi,
After reading Pawnerai's Chess box post here
I felt inspired to share my experience and photos of a custom chess box made by ETSY shop owner Andrew Kruglinski at ADKwoodworkingshop
Andrew was very pleasant to work with. I specifically requested a slid top, "very curly" maple to give it that tiger style pattern. The interior dimensions of 14L" x 5W x 4 5/8H" was requested with a little room to spare for my Minceta pieces. I have chosen the height size to ensure I can fit a 4.5" king set just in case I wanted to switch sets. To my satisfaction the box is made perfectly and IMHO, gorgeous! The top Lid slides very smooth with no effort and locked with neodymium magnets. The corners have miter joints made from padauk.
Here are a few photos for your enjoyment. Apologies for the low quality pics, still working on this skill.
