Defensive Tactics books?

Does anyone know of any chess books devoted to defensive patterns? I feel this is a topic I neglect a lot, but would be interested if there are any good resources out there on the subject.

This isn't excactly what you are looking for. But it's AWSOME book/s to train your calculation and visualisation. With focus on defense.

Good question, I was thinking the same thing today.

Chess Tempo, if you are willing to pay, has dozens of thousands of defensive tactics at various customizable levels.

The best (and probably only) book that is written on this topic is "is your move safe" by Dan Heisman. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet.

Thanks!  It is not bad to keep in mind.  I like chessable a lot.

Auf Deutsch "Die Kunst der Verteidigung" von Hans Kmoch and in English maybe "New Art of Defense in Chess" by Soltis. It has good reviews on amazon, but I do not have a copy of the book.

Looks like I can obtain "Die Kunst der Verteidigung" in American currency. Mein Deutsch ist sehr schrecklich, aber veilleicht ein Buch von Schach macht gut Ubung.  Danke.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Thanks!  There are defensive puzzles on chess.com too, but I'm hoping to look for them in an organized and classified manner.  (Like one pattern for example I've started to notice is that Kf1 is often a good response to a check to an uncastled king.  Or it's good to keep your king on the opposite color as your rook against a knight, this type of thing. )

Karsten Müller and Merijn van Delft wrote a book called "Verteidigung" or "Defense", but I don't know if it is available in English. It contains many examples and puzzles to solve.

There is also the DVD Powerplay 11 by Daniel King on the topic.
