How many games have you won? I’ve won a handful, but the Centaur made me work for all of them. And, I’ve been 40 moves deep, winning, and one bad move and the Centaur crushed me. Really enjoying it. Plus, I went to Hobby Lobby today and put a carrying case together for $15.
DGT Centaur review
I mean there is a usb port for charging de centaur. I just eager to know if someone plug in on windows or mac laptop and something else happen. Because a raspberry zero is inside.

DGT Centaur is a standalone chess computer and cannot be connected to a tablet, laptop or PC for data exchange or upgrade. It only connects with the power adapter to charge the internal battery
I have wondered if perhaps there is a jumper or a connection that needs soldering to enable the port to work as a data port but I personally am happy with the Centaur as it is so not going to crack it open.

I've had 10 or 15 beginner games on my new DGT Centaur and love the machine that Santa brought. I play at a beginners level and if I concentrate I can win. It makes me work with the possibility of a win but the win is not ensured.
The only comment I have is, "With the sound on I cannot hear anything".

love mine, feels completely different to playing on a tablet/pc and on friendly mode i have great games.

In still got a number of vintage dedicated chess computers, but mostly tiny ones with 28mm fields and 5cm king's size pieces, and it's just not the same thing.
OMG YEAH

My question is does this feel worth the $399 price tag? I don't own a Centaur and I've never seen one in person, just read about it online, so I'm just curious about how people feel about this product regarding value for the money. My eyes tell me that it's over-priced but I'd love to hear some feedback about why it is worth it. From what I see/read, $200-250 seems like it'd be more appropriately priced.

Considering what you'll have to pay for an old Munich board with a semi-decent module, it's okay. You can get the Centaur for a little under €300 from Spain or Slovenia, but I was happy to fork out the extra €30 to get it from Germany in the event of a malfunction or return.
YES VALUABLE QUESTION FROM YOUR SIDE
Have you ever won with the Centaur? I'm not a strong player but was hoping to win at least once. It didn't happen so far and I already played several games. All at Friendly level with different game time. All games are very exciting anyway because Centaur kindly keeps me at +/- 0.9 ish score. It gives the feeling that you always have a chance for wining... until checkmate!

i bought mine about 3 weeks ago and have beaten it around 5 times on friendly level and drawn a couple, lost around 3. Have now moved onto challenging and so far it is beating me but not mercilessly, just taking advantage of any slips i make.

For me it's unfortunate that the DGT Centaur that I ordered becomes defective in just around 7-months even if I don't use it regularly. I just hope the DGT team will contact me and provide support. Here's the video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/nEhYXP3gjzM

Santa finally brought my Christmas present tonight!
Out of the box, it had almost a full charge. So I turned it on and played several games (all as white). Had several Ruy Lopez games and a couple of Sicilians. The DGT beat me easily on friendly mode the first few games and then I blitzed out a checkmate on the last game with 28 seconds left to its 4+ minutes. Very fun games.
My daughter played after me, simply moving the pieces (she knows how they move and capture, but no strategy). In her game, I could see the computer adjusting during the game and making moves at her level. She actually played until the end (DGT checkmated) which she normally doesn’t do when she plays me (loses interest).
Based on reviews and videos, I knew this “turn on and enjoy” computer was for me. It didn’t disappoint.
