@ungewichtet I have no proof that it is made in the former Soviet Union but the pieces are not of the same quality as original Smitthenners set. Especially the knights carving is much inferior (which also applies to the set from the OP).

It is a roly poly chess set, but nobody could tell me when or where they were manufactured.
