letsgohome

tmkroll

do you have a picture of it? I watch Walking Dead on Netflix so it's going to be a while till I can see it.

Martin_Stahl

I'm pretty sure it was a variation on a Lewis chess set.

Thank you so much

These are "The Isle of Lewis Chessmen"

Search for them on amazon.com and you will find different versions.

Great set for display, and a nice conversation piece. I wouldn't want to play a game on it, though.

Scottrf

Yeah I'd spend all my time working out which piece was which.

Yep. We were watching on Netflix, but switched to Amazon Prime. We're in season four of Doctor Who. Maybe we'll return to the Walking Dead in a few months.

lmao yes. You have to see it and form your opinion, but I found it to be quite cheesy brah. The people I was watching it with had a good laugh at the opening scenes.

i like the set with the red pieces better.  Historians believe that may have been the Black armies original color.  Also, the dark brown, almost black color of the Black side hides the features of the pieces.

CerebralAssassin19

Good thing they brought the Governor back.Season 4 seems a bit dull compared to the 3 first seasons.

thought_control

the same set was in the first Harry Potter movie.  The Black pieces were red in that one though.

Crazychessplaya

Good riddance to the Governor.

I'm just watching this episode just now and I'm a bit surprised, as I make these chess sets. For anyone interested in having a look at mine, here is the facebook page.

In the Lewis Chess set the originals were made from walrus ivory and whale teeth. The dark set were stained with beetroot, to give them that colour.
