No one has mentioned yet that Dwight's board was set up wrong in the episode. On the "a" row, white was on left, not on right as it should be. I see this mistake on TV and in movies all the time. Surprised no one in the whole crew knows about the proper board setup...

Are you talking about a different scene (or show)? The pictures shown in this topic don't have notation on the board and the board is set up correctly.

I gave up on TWD a few weeks ago(after all these years)....Seems like we're all just waiting for Neegan to get it,while a few standard characters are knocked off.

Different Scene. There is a new scene with a set of "diy" chess figures in a WWII Theme. Knights appear to be soldier kneeling with a muzzle loading mortar (M2?). Bishop appears to be a Chapman.  Couldn't tell other pieces.

The board was shown from a top angle for only about 1/2 a second, but as you can see here (I lightened the image to show it better), the a1 square is white, when it should be black. A very common mistake in TV and movies.

Yeah, it is a common mistake in media. Though, to be fair, Sometimes even chess players do it incorrectly, when quickly setting up a board, and new players may not actually know that rule, just the how the pieces are set up.

I agree with your inputs Martin. Thank you for your comment. Just one of my "pet peeves" surprise.png over the years for the entertainment industry that spends tens of millions of dollars with excruciating detail on set design...

Idk, the chess set in the new Beauty and the Beast is wrong: 5e3fa287e177cbbbad475ac1966d0bb7.jpg

Besides the board orientation, it's a 20th century looking St. George set, but they've put like 18th or 19th century French kind of Knight heads on it so it *sort of* looks like the kind of set you'd find in that area/period, but not really. It's like they tried a little bit, but considering their attention to detail one would think they could have just as easily done it right.
