Dubrovnik set 3D printed in bamboo and rosewood with black felt, on a laminated melamine board.

Latvian set 3D printed in boxwood and black resin with crimson felt, on a Dal Rossi walnut board.

You can get these at 3DPrintedChess.com

The STL files to print your own are $15, or you can buy pre-made sets from various vendors (starting at $70) if you don't have a 3D printer.

Mr. conorokane,

I purchased a set of the Latvian files and worked with my son-in-law and his coworker to print up a set in resin. I have zero experience with 3D printers and/or printing so I relied on my "experts". The pieces printed out very nicely according to my son-in-law. The coworker used an ELEGOO Mars 2 printer to print up the set.  When I weighed the 32 pieces on my postal scale they totaled 392 gm. The surface finish was very nice requiring little or no finish sanding. I have yet to paint them and add weights and felt.

For anyone thinking about purchasing the files, I would recommend these files. I live in the USA and the purchase was simple online and the price was less than $11 USD at the current exchange rate. If you have no experience with 3D printing, either find someone who can do them for you or purchase an already printed set. I paid the coworker $55 USD for his time and materials so the total price before painting was $66 USD.

To be totally transparent, I have no connection with Mr. O'kane, and I found the link to purchase the files on this forum.

Your photos are very representative of the finished product after painting. Now I just need a bigger board with at least 2.25 inch squares. Oh well, I needed another woodworking project to add to my list.

Thanks so much for the post and info. Which set exactly is the first one? Which shop can I buy those printed pieces from? Thank you so much!!!!

F1 Lightning - thank you very much for the generous review, I really appreciate your endorsement. Those Latvian pieces have really wide bases don't they! They definitely look best on a large board, making your own is a great idea.

Krames - The first set is a replica of the Dubrovnik set which I designed for 3D printing. I have sold the STL files as a commercial license to a variety of manufacturers, you can see the complete list here: http://www.3dprintedchess.com/buy-printed-sets/
This means they can print and sell my designs. However, only one of them has so far printed complete sets for sale, they are Hirschi's Sweet Creations, here's their website. At the moment they're only offering resin prints, not wood filament, however I recommend contacting them directly to see what they can do for you.
