Stunning! Love that red stain. Congratulations on your new noj set.

I'll probably go for the same set when my turn comes. How do you you like red so far? Do you think it will last?

Pawnerai

The Red Minceta is an incredible set to hold and admire in person. Janez handmixes and applies the stain beautifully. So much depth and luster. Enjoy!

Thanks for your appreciations..yes i love this color...dark red wine...the most beautiful with the right color board!!😉

For that kind of money, you might as well expect perfection.

EBowie

Absolutely beautiful set!

rsvenkatachalam

Looks like a beautiful set.  Is this a 4" king or the smaller version?

rsvenkatachalam

Even the board is beautiful.  What kind of board is that?

magictwanger

Love that board too. Perfect combo.

ECKmasters

@rsvenkatachalam...the Set is 3.6" King and the board is 60mm squares Padouk hi gloss https://www.chessbazaar.com/wooden-red-ash-burl-maple-hi-gloss-finish-chess-board-24-60-mm.html

The match of the chessmen and the board is very good, although picture from top would be helpful. I just worry that reflection from the board would be distracting during the play.

rsvenkatachalam

yes, the glossy wooden boards look so beautiful that one absolutely wants them.  But then like you said they would be distracting or a hindrance to playing well.  that is the reason chess rules dictate that the pieces and board should not be shiny.  these boards are available in glossy or matt finish i believe.  Hard decision to make.

ECKmasters

@rsvenkatachalam...yes maybe it distract somebody's...but for many not... like myself, and you can buy the same without glossy like you said 😀

magictwanger

Gotta' go glossy....It's sooo nice!
