Update...
Well, when I rename the FEN file and give it a EPD extension instead, it works. The desired position is loaded and the engine tourney starts the games from there.
I'm still not sure why it doesn't work with a file that has a FEN extension, especially when Arena allows the user the option to filter out nothing but files with FEN extensions in the folder.
Engine Tournament in Arena - different start position

Greetings,
Supposedly, Arena can handle an engine tournament beginning with a different start position than the normal start position. However, I can't get this to work with a valid FEN position.
I have this position in a file called kga.fen:
rnb1kbnr/pppp1ppp/8/8/2B1Pp1q/8/PPPP2PP/RNBQ1KNR b kq - 3 4
In Arena I click on ENGINES - TOURNAMENT and I click the OPTIONS tab. I point to this kga.fen file. However, the tournament does not start from this position.
Note: I CAN get the tourney to start from this position if I point to a PGN file with a single, partial game in it, with the moves that lead to this position. However, there might be times when I want to start from, say an endgame position that I don't have the PGN moves leading up to it.
So what am I doing wrong, if anything? The drop-down box in Arena gives me the option to load FEN files only, so what I'm doing should work... unless there is a bug in the program.
If there is a better website forum to ask Arena questions in, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
