Right you are, Chuck.  That's why I sleep with a chess book under my pillow Sealed

This thread includes advertisements for "the Cadillac of" and "the Rolls Royce of" and "the aristocrat of" all chess sets. Cool

Yup, though you're pulling in some advertisements Arlindo and I posted in my Amazonia thread. They're presented not to advertise products but as historical artifacts of historic designs of aesthetic significance or interest.

I like simple Staunton sets, and this is a fun set to play with. Here's some more pics:

Totally agree Frank. Thanks for the great photos.

Frank, is that an original B.H. Wood set?  The knights are Lardy style, but the bishops, kings and queens look BHW.

I wish it were an original, but it's not. It's the HoS replica set...

Frank isn't cheap, but the merchandise is good.

This price is not that bad,I've seen some B.H.Wood sets that sold for a lot more.

Tonight we had the first round of our club's Midsummer Knight's Dream tournament.  It was G/80, d/5.

So, I brought my HoS B. H. Wood set.  It is in Golden Rosewood for the dark pieces.

The board is from Legend Products.  The clock is the V-Tek 300 in black with red buttons.

Looks great on that board, Ron. How did you do?

Eyechess

Well, I was winning but ended up losing. I pushed it too hard.

Beautiful sets and the wide bases on the royals are especially appealing.

And the rooks with wide turrets and bases..stately.

I love the green and buff board--sets off the pieces well.

I would never play on a board with black pieces and black squares.

I find that "fun sets" are "way more fun" when I win! Apparently,I don't have many fun sets.  -happy.png
