Fritz 11 vs. Rybka 3

Sort:

When you go on Amazon.com you will see Rybka 3 and Fritz 11 which one should you buy

Rybka 3 has 1- year free member ship to playchess.com, and it has ratings from 1450- 3200

Fritz 11 has 1- year free membership to playchess.com, it has video lessons from Garry Kasaprov, and it has a rating from 1350- 3100

Overall the answer for what to get is depending on the rating

Unrated to 1500 should get Fritz 11

1500 - 2700 should get Rybka 3

2700 plus can get either

The reason for this is that on Fritz 11 you can play on low levels and you get lessons

On Rybka 3 you can play against people your exact level or more and you can play advanced people and solve puzzels and go through Rybka's  600,000 game storage

For 2700 plus you should get either because since no one on Earth is 2855 plus no person will have a chance against either system

So you decide what is better Rybka 3 or Fritz 11 vote Now

"2700 plus can get either"

that is most definitely not true. I'm pretty sure super GM's almost exclusively use Rybka. It is the strongest out there are will help them the most with opening preparation. There is no reason for them to not have the best out there.

Actually that is not true because Garry Kasaprov always used Fritz and Fritz 11 and Rybka 3 both have a rating of about 3500 and no player has gone within 600 of both and also Fritz also helps you with your preparation
And it is not known that Rybka 3 is the best bescuse when Fritz 11 played Rybka 3 in best of five the score was
Rybka 3 3.o
Fritz 11 2.0 Fritz 11 was white twice
which proves Fritz is almost as good or even as good as Rybka 3

Get your facts right. Garry Kasparov may have used Fritz, but that's because Rybka was not around.

Fritz does not even compare to Rybka. Rybka runs circles around Fritz. Rybka is rated 3234 and Fritz only 3098. While this may not seem that big, It is. Rybka dominates Fritz.

I think that adequately summarizes my sentiments.

Actually on Fritz 11 if you have it you can play against 3500 rated and also on Rybka 3 you can play against 3500 even thought this is an estimate it is still approved by the USCF, and FIDE the two biggest organizations on Earth and your source is not as high of power of FIDE and USCF and your source has not been updated in the past

your source is not reliable

You are basing your statements on personal beliefs. I base mine on facts.

You do realize that chess programs have many uses other than cheating. Such as learning.

Rybka played Fritz in 5-game match?  What the heck is that?  Unlike sports playoffs, that format doesn't really avoid ties (since 2.5 each is a real possibility) ... what were the organizers thinking?  Were they setting the 'contempt' factor (refusing draw offers) on both programs to maximum?

Pretty much everyone I've spoken to, including some titled players AND some players who know computer chess well, say that Rybka is best.  But once, in an effort to demonstrate this, a friend played them in a blitz game against each other, saying "Watch this."

Fritz won.

I'd imagine that on hi-spec computers, most games would end as rather dull draws.

I've heard that Rybka does have a more intuitive, human-like play than Fritz though.

What long time control matches have taken place between Fritz and Rybka?

Presumably these were multi-processor machines using Deep Fritz/Deep Rybka?

I personally think that the difference between 3098 & 3234 is pretty meaningless when you consider that 3098 rated will not make a significant error given anything like a reasonable time control on a decent quad-core with a large hash table.

Amaan2, it is fairly obvious that bondiggity is correct, as Rybka dominates all computer tournaments. (In any time control.)

amaan2

Bondgity, your source is exactly 1 month old while my source is uptaded every second and if you even have both programs yyou can see the firxst time you play against them it will show you a rating of 3500

amaan2

Also Rybka was around when Kasaprov used Fritz

BFM

The first Rybka beta was released on December 2, 2005

Kasparov retired from chess at March 10, 2005

amaan2

well actually even though that is true but Kasaprov played against Rybka and Fritz and deermened that Fritz is better than Rybka
