Fritz 7 (database analysis by GM's) on sale

I noticed Fritz 7 is on sale on Amazon for $4.00 including free shipping. I know you don't want it for the engine but the database is pretty good if you don't have the megadatabase. Its very similar in its analysis of games. Unfortunately chessbase took that feature out of its later versions.

Analysis of games by Kasparov, and all the other GM's is on there while it isn't on 9-13.

When you say "analysis", do you mean analysis, or is it just the game scores that are given?

I have a copy of Fritz 6 and it has a historical games database but no analysis that I can see.

complete analysis by the players in many games. Guessing in the thousands. Over 1000 anyway have full game analysis.

I think the GM''s commentaries are very useful but all have different way of playing I guess.

Most of those analyses are not terribly useful (made primarily with old computer software, so they are full of tactical holes).

Being an owner of Chessbase Mega Database 2012, I have all old commented games, and I know that the comments are flawed.

Huge databases of uncommented games are available free of charge.

That's inaccurate (at best) and a lie (at worst).

Unless, of course, you choose to call players like Lubomir Ftacnik, Zoltan Ribli, Rainer Knaak, Danny King, Vishy Anand, etc., "old computer software", in which case you'd be correct.

Just another example of the "expert opinions" you get on message boards.

While I personally find ChessBase of limited utiltiy as a database (given the lack of intigration of anything like a positional query scripting language such as CA has), the thing CB does very well is the game collections they produce. Their Big Datbase and Mega Database products, as well as ChessBase Magazine, are worth the price of admission in my view.

Of course, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but when it comes to commented games, I think CB is pretty much in a class by itself.

Yes, they are filled to the brim with analytical errors. No surprise.

Even BOOKS by the same authors (e.g. Ftacnik's book on the Najdorf) is full of mistakes, despite the fact it was published relatively recently.

I am very sorry if I bashed your merchandise, but I do have to call things as they actually are. Best regards.

First you say it's all "computer generated analysis", and when I called you on that falsehood, now you say "Oh, I meant to say it's human generated, but wrong".

You're not "sorry" for bashing a danged thing. It's your whole point to bash it.

You are.

Yeah, Fritz7 is a really hot seller for me right now.
